In the early morning of the 24th of February Russian army began a full-scale invasion into Ukraine. The attack started with a missile launch targeted on many Ukrainian cities - Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Kharkiv, Odesa, Ivano-Frankivsk, Sumy, Dnipro, Mykolaiv, Mariupol, and much more. Then Putin’s horde started moving towards many targets, encircling Ukraine from South, East, and North (due to support from Lukashenko’s regime).
Response from the Ukrainian Armed Forces was strong, and occupants started suffering from losses very soon. Reportedly, the number of dead Russian soldiers during the first four days of the invasion was around 3500 - more than during the two years of the Soviet-Afghanistan war. And Ukraine keeps fighting back, thus debunking the myth about the Russian army being one of the world’s most powerful forces.
But, in addition to the unprovoked and unjustified attack, Russia also acted like a terrorist. For example:
On the first day of the invasion, Russia captured Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant. After that, the levels of radiation detected by monitoring stations grew about 20-fold, causing disturbance of many countries in the European region.
On the 26th of February 2022, an apartment block on Valeriy Lobanovskiy Avenue in Kyiv was struck by a Russian missile.
Similar attacks on buildings happened in Kharkiv and Chernihiv. A six-year-old boy was killed, and multiple others were wounded after a Russian artillery attack on the Okhmatdyt Children’s hospital.
Also, several foreign ships (Moldovan MV Millenial Spirit and Japanese MV Namura Queen) were attacked by Russian forces. Ukrainian civil ship “Sapfir” was captured near Zmiiny (Snake) island.
On the 27th of February, Russia kept firing missiles and artillery shells on civil buildings in Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Mariupol.
Bus with civil people was shooted in Sumy region.
Also, this day the world’s largest operational aircraft Antonov An-225 Mriya was reported as destroyed due to russian continuous attacks on airport Hostomel - the homebase of Antonov Airlines.
Today, Russia keeps shelling civil people in Kyiv, Chernihiv, Mariupol, and many other locations.
Also, they purposedly set ablaze museum with many pictures of famous Ukrainian paintress Mariya Priymachenko.
Those are just some of the crimes committed by Russian invaders. Ukrainians keep defending themselves. Their spirit makes them strong. The world stands with them against the aggressor. You can support Ukrainians in their fight for freedom. Soon after the beginning of the invasion, the National Bank of Ukraine opened an account to support the defenders. You can find more information here.
